They say it only takes 30 days to build a habit. Do it daily and eventually you won’t even think much about it since it will be part of your routine. This has never really worked for me in my life. Maybe because I never really made it the full 30 days? Waking up early? Maybe 5 days. Exercise? Pre-kids, no problem! Post-kids, haven’t even tried. Flossing? On and off.
But here I go! Starting a new challenge. To write. About a topic. For 31 days.
This event was started by blogger Myquillyn Smith (also known as ‘The Nester‘) and is now hosted by Crystal Stine. Over 1,000 bloggers unite in the month of October to write daily, for 31 days, about any topic they want.
In thinking about my topic for writing, I knew in my heart it had to be authentic. It had to be something that shared my heart, but in a way that is honest and real. The internet is full of noise and I don’t want my writing to be noisy. But writing gives my soul a place to breathe. A place to take the thoughts that consume my head and process them and record them. Putting yourself out there in writing can be scary. But my heart longs for community and I’m determined to live as fully authentic as I can.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but life has been pretty overwhelming lately. This isn’t meant to be a comparison or anything, but I’ve been having a hard time keeping up. Most days I start the day with a list of too much to accomplish and I end up multitasking everything, and then, nothing really gets done. Add another set of things that need to get done the next day and it’s an avalanche waiting to crash at any minute.
And while I know that getting things done isn’t what’s important in life, it has been consuming me lately.
After reading, Simply Tuesday, by Emily Freeman, I knew that small moment living was what I needed to write about. And so, that’s what you’ll find here for the next 30 days.
This is my landing page for all my posts. So you’ll be able to come back here if you miss any and see the links for all of them in one place.
I’d love for you to comment each day about the way you are living small.
Won’t you join me? Each day you read, if you feel so inclined, be part of the out-of-the-box community and leave a comment of your own small living. I love Emily’s words…”these are the days of…” What do “these days” look like for you. Simply comment each day you read with one, “these are the days of…”
Looking forward to living small together!
